Industrial Partners

NP Aerospace - one of the largest thermosetting moulding companies in Europe, manufacturing a wide range of products in engineering thermoset and composite materials for customers in the Aerospace, Electrical, Automotive, Defence and Textile Industries. Partnered with the Integrated Electronics Manufacturing Research Centre (IEMRC), UK they are funding a CASE studentship. The project aims to design, implement and embed into a bomb disposal suit a body sensor and actuation network that will produce an assessment of the subject's thermal comfort and predictively actuate the cooling system within the suit in an effort to maintain acceptable comfort levels. TRW Conekt - part of TRW Automotive, Conekt has over 50 years experience in advanced product development, applications engineering and validation services. They offer engineering consultancy services specialising in a number of fields including aerospace and defence.

VibroMeter - part of Meggitt PLC, a multi-national high tech manufacturing company, Vibro-Meter UK produces a variety of sensors for aerospace applications. Together with the EPSRC, they are funding a CASE studentship, a project which focuses on developing a monitoring system for a gas turbine engine. More details of this project are available here.

Midland Heart -  one of the top ten housing and regeneration groups in the country and the largest based in the Midlands. They invest over £100 million every year in improving and building new homes. They are currently part of a new project aiming to use wireless sensor technology to monitor environmental conditions in a number of occupied homes in the West Midlands. The goal being to provide tenants with useful information that can lead to an improvement in energy efficiency in the home and lower energy costs. For more details go to the project page.

Orbit Heart of England - one of the largest Midlands-based Registered Social Landlords, managing over 12,000 homes. They are also part of a new project whose goal is to use wireless sensor networks to monitor environmental conditions in a bid to improve energy efficiency in a number of homes. Details are available on the project page.
