Main Duties:

About Me

I am a part time postgraduate research student with Cogent. After obtaining a First class Honours degree from Coventry University in 2008 I was offered a sponsored postgraduate position as well as a part time lecturer internship. My final year project was entitled “A Wireless Environment Monitoring System” and was based on using temperature sensors and the Gumstix platform to continually monitor each room in a large building.

Other responsibilities:

As well as my research project I support the teaching of several modules at various stages of undergraduate study as follows:

• Design for usability
• Computer architecture
• XML technologies (Level 2)
• XML technologies (Level 3)
• Multimedia Production

Research:

My research focuses on the use of CFD tools & techniques for modelling closed environments to inform deployment of WSN based monitoring with instrumentation.

The particular application is from the automotive industry; car cabin & passenger comfort monitoring. Modelling the car cabin environment will enable us to gain sufficient information on the evolution of the physical variables of interest (mainly temperature & humidity) for a variety of cabin events (such as the impact of the air conditioning and associated controls). Consequently informed positioning of the WSN nodes and sensors can be achieved.
