About Me
I joined Cogent in September 2009 as a PhD research student after graduating from Coventry University with a first class honours degree in Software Engineering. Prior to that, I worked as a database developer for a software consultancy company on a large data warehousing project.
My Research Interests
My final year project used ZigBee-based wireless sensor nodes to build an automated housing system, which reacted based upon a number of environmental constraints.
My PhD project is also in the area of wireless indoor environmental monitoring and focuses on facilitating the implementation of the passive house model on older buildings. The project aims to develop tools for assessing the environmental impact of new designs and retrofitting buildings with a goal of reducing energy consumption. The research also hopes to give some insight into occupants' comfort as well as how they interact with the home itself.
